Every Windows user may have little or no trouble when connecting. But Linux users may have some problems. Ubuntu is the least troublesome distro, but others, such as Debian, Arch or openSUSE, won’t connect at all. In this post, I show you how to configure the network in order to connect without problem.
Option 1: configure WiFi
This is a screenshot of the connect prompt when opening for the first time the network ITESM:
Be sure to change the following fields:
- Authentication: from Tunneled TLS to Protected EAP (PEAP)
- Check the “No CA certificate is required” checkbox
- PEAP version: Automatic
- Inner authentication: MSCHAPv2
- Type your code and your password
As soon as you click the “Connect” button, it may take some time (about 1 or 2 minutes ) to connect. If it takes more than 5 minutes, try to forget the connection and reconfigure it.
Option 2: configure Android USB tethering
Before I was available to configure WiFi on Linux, I used this method. This works perfectly although it can be bothering. USB tethering allows your phone to work as a network adapter. With USB, this allows your phone to be connected to the ITESM network and share it, while when using non USB tethering, you can only share mobile data.
To connect your phone, be sure it’s connected via USB. Then, go into settings and choose the “Mobile hosting and tethering”.
You will find a switch there.
This may also take some time to connect. If it takes more than 5 minutes, disconnect your phone, connect it and repeat the following steps.
Super bien, que buena onda que hagas este tutorial. Estuve batallando dias para poder conectarme.
